Penn & Teller on Saturday Night Live

The eleventh season of Saturday Night Live aired between November 9, 1985 and May 24, 1986. There were eighteen episodes during that season, and Penn & Teller were special guests six times.

Their first appearance was on November 9, 1985 (the season premiere). Madonna was the host of the episode and Simple Minds were the musical guest. P & T performed their Water Tank card trick ("Never call Penn & Teller wimps again").

Their next appearance was on December 21, 1985. Teri Garr was the host for that episode and both The Dream Academy and The Cult were musical guests. The duo performed the Electric Chair trick.

They next appeared on the February 8, 1986 episode. Ron Reagan Jr. was the host and The Nelsons were the musical guest. The duo performed their Gravity Trick.

They were back on the March 15, 1986 episode with host Griffin Dunne. Roseanne Cash was the musical guest. P & T taught the audience how to do a card trick of their own. (I like the video clip with Penn as a preacher. It's like a test run for the cover of his recent book, "God, No!...")

Their next appearance was on the April 19, 1986 episode with host Tony Danza and musical guest Laurie Anderson. The team performed the Snake Trick.

The duo's final appearance of the season was on the May 10, 1986 episode. Catherine Oxenberg and Paul Simon were the hosts and Ladysmith Black Mambazo was the musical guest. They performed the Casey at the Bat Escape.

Penn & Teller made one other appearance on SNL, during the twelfth season. The episode aired on December 13, 1986. Steve Guttenberg was the host and The Pretenders were the musical guest. When I find video of their performance, I will share it here.
